Chinese Kickboxing(Sanda) is a self-defense system and a combat fighting sport. Sanda was developed out of traditional Chinese martial arts and free boxing matches in the early 19th century for the Chinese soldiers to use. Traditional kung fu and free boxing were popular at the time, but also seen by military commanders as not particularly effective for hand to hand combat on the battlefield. So Sanda was created. The Sanda system originates out of Sanshou (free boxing) and includes both striking and grappling techniques. It combines full-contact kickboxing, which means close range, rapid punches along with kicks, wrestling, takedowns, throws, sweeps, kick catches, elbow and knee strikes.
