Shaolin Kung Fu (Shaolin Wushu) is one of the oldest institutionalized styles of Chinese martial arts. It originates and was developed in the Buddhist Shaolin temple which was built in 495 AD, Henan Province, China. During the 1500 years of its development, Shaolin kung fu, with its rich content, became one of the largest schools of kung fu. The name Shaolin is also used as a brand for the so-called external styles of kung fu.
From the influence of the Chan Buddhism (Zen) environment, The development of Shaolin Kung fu is based on the the belief of Buddhism. It fully embodies the wisdom of Buddhist culture and the Chan clan culture. From 1990s, Shaolin Kungfu got more and more recognition from the outside world, and soon became one of the most popular styles of martial arts.
Master Zhang Ziqiang is the 32nd generation monk of Shaolin Temple. He came from a kung fu family and started to learn Hong quan under the guidance of his grandfather since he was a young boy. He then entered the Shaolin Temple to learn Shaolin kung fu.
He is proficient in a variety of Shaolin boxing, forms, Eighteen Weapons, Xing Yi Fist as well as various animal fist forms, such as Tiger Fist, Leopard Fist, Eagle Fist, Mantis Fist and the weapons like southern sword, double sword, Pu sword, single whip, double whip, etc.
He has been to USA , France , England , Singapore and other countries many times for kung fu performance and teaching, and received gracious reception and lots of positive comments from local embassy .When Master Zhang was in London, he met with Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace after a spectacular performance.
